Play Balls

I'm in an arena. The room is about 40x80x30 feet. The center is a 20 foot tall platform. The shape and arrangement of the platform(s) change each game but there are consistencies. The platform never touches the walls (gaps to allow a person go up or down) and opposite each other long ways on the platform are the goals. The walls are rounded so balls don't get stuck in corners, they roll back into play. The arena is low gravity to allow players to jump from floor to platform with ease. Very good players are almost able to fly. There are two players on each team.

Goals are shaped like shallow bowls about 2 inches tall and diameter just larger than a soccer ball. The ball that we play with is the sphere the size of a soccer ball but has designs grooved into it that glow. The main surface of the ball is a grayish silver. One ball glows red, the other blue. The goal keeps the ball floating about 3 feet off the ground. I believe the balls would be extremely heavy if not for the low gravity. There are also dummy balls (gray glow designs) laying about the arena.

The object of the game is to take the other team's ball and, to simplify for writing though not exactly, throw it at your ball still suspended. If your ball is not at your goal you cannot score. After each goal the arena is reset and the next round begins. All players stand at their goal until the round begins.

I'm playing a tournament and kicking ass. Beat two teams fairly easy. Last team is two very agile women. We play an intense game and are down to the final goal. It would be very hard to describe the movements they and even myself are able to do but trust me when I say everyone in the arena in this last game are fuckin badass players. My team mate is injured and unable to continue so its now 2v1. They are now easily able to send one person to my goal and keep one at theirs to defend.

As the starting horn sounds (same sound as basketball) one of them drops below the platform out of sight and I immediately grab a dummy ball and launch it at their ball. It knocks their ball off their goal (they can't score if their ball isn't in place). I turn to check my goal and my ball is already gone. I drop down to the ground to see one girl zipping to her goal with my ball and the other trying to catch up to their own ball which bounces off of a few walls and the pillar holding up the platform. I need to level the playing field with these two so that's exactly what I do. Some how I'm able to knock down the pillar and the whole platform collapses.

Seeing what I did, their player carrying my ball hits some button on the wall and the lights go out. All I can see now are the glow of the red, blue, and gray balls. I can see both of them with both red and blue balls standing near my goal. I'm standing over their goal which is tilted about 60deg on the rubble. The one holding their ball picks up a dummy ball and throws it straight at Me. I deflect it away and see their ball headed for their own goal, trying to get it set for them to score. I punch it away and dive for a dummy ball near the button for the lights.

I turn the lights on and see that their ball is already in place again. I launch the dummy ball at the girl holding my ball about to throw it in for the last goal. She has to flinch away from it (the balls are very heavy) and I dive back to their goal as she throws my ball. Its a diving punch to knock my ball away.

Just as I hit my ball and deflect it away I wake up because I also punched the wall next to my bed and my left hand still hurts as I write this.

Fun game!
